One thing about generation Z, is that we are addicted to our phones. Literally everyone is. We scroll short form video every single day. I guarantee you that most of gen-Z has a longer streak of watching short form video every day than any other habit they have ever had. The crazy thing is that most of the time when you end up wasting time scrolling, your intentions aren’t to scroll. There’s just a lot of ways to get sucked in.

For example; you text your friend back, and automatically navigate over to instagram and go to reels in a zombie like state. Or, you pick up your phone to use your calculator and decide to quickly watch the TikTok your friend sent you, only to end up scrolling for 30 minutes. And on top of all this, at the very end of the day, you may decide to treat yourself to relaxation and phone (after already racking up hours of screen time throughout the day).
Unfortunately for me, I now have another way to waste time on my phone, and honestly it feels like a complete new addiction on its own. Ever since I started posting short form content to PROMOTE THIS VERY BLOG… I have become obsessed with checking the statistics of each video. I check the likes, see new followers, I read the comments, I even keep an eye on retention rates and shit like that. It has become it’s own little monster that I had not been aware of until after I had started posting. And to make it worse, after I log on to check these metrics, I will often just swipe on over to reels and indulge for minutes at a time.
You know you’re addicted when you will be sitting there and your phone will be distracting you so you have to toss it away just to get some work done. I remember employing this method during my college days.

I have begun research on how to cure my phone addiction, but obviously it isn’t that easy or else there’d be a lot more advice on this out there. Once I do find the cure, or method, or whatever, I will be updating the SHLERK community so we can all spend less time on phone.
In the meantime, continue wasting your time watching and interacting with SHLERK content, and I will continue wasting mine observing your engagement.
